Pre Alpha 1.0.2 - QOL Patch Part 2

Summary: A few more quality of life enhancements, standout is the ability to do set-seed runs and a "step-up" feature for walking up 1 tile without needing to manually jump.

New Features:

  • Stylized Health Bar, rather than using the Engine Default
  • The player, though still a blue rectangle, now "looks" in the direction you are moving.
  • Added the ability to set seed.
    • It is mostly just a guaranteed level generation
    • Item drops and enemy spawns may be different depending on the rooms they are in.
  • Decreased the chances of the boss room spawning connected to the first room outside the spawn room.
  • Added a small “climbing” function, making traversal a bit easier
    • This range extends 1 tile, meaning you don't need to jump out of a 1 tile divot
  • Added a new item which grants unlimited wall climbing and increases climbing speed

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the Sentient Geode (purple thing) could get stuck easily in some areas.
    • Now it’s just a lot harder to get it stuck.
    • It is also significantly more stable when in contact with walls.

Known Issues

These are the same as last time, but still putting them here.

  • You can click on an input to rebind it, and then click on another button and rebind multiple at the same time. Opting to ignore it for now and focus on other components.
    • A sub-issue of this is attempting to bind LMB while hovering over a button doesn’t work.
  • If you hold down the “resume” button on the pause menu and then click the button to toggle the menu, parts of the pause menu disappear (but the resume button remains visible). Opting to ignore it for now and focus on other components.

Backend:

  • Added support for unique one-time item pickups. Currently the only thing utilising this is the belay, the climbing item. If you can pick up the belay multiple times, it’s a bug.

Future Development:

With a lot of the quality of life enhancements out of the way, the focus will now shift towards some much-needed variety. This will likely come in the form of different items, enemies, and stages.
