Pre-Alpha 1.0.1 - QOL Patch I


11/12/2024 - Pre-Alpha 1.0.1 - Quality of Life Patch

Summary: A lot of quality of life enhancements, standout is adjustable input options which save. More are to come later, such as support for set-seed runs.

New Features:

  • Added the ability to attack using Arrow Keys or the Numpad rather than exclusively mouse.
  • Added text to the first level for the people who skip past the main menu.
  • Enemies now flash red when they take damage.
  • Added more text in the main menu
  • Nerfed the “Sentient Geode” (The flying purple thing).
    • Decreased speed and acceleration
    • Lowered max health
  • Altered the way the “variable” jump height worked.
    • Before, releasing jump early would immediately remove all vertical velocity.
    • Now, it greatly increases acceleration until all upwards velocity is gone, making it appear more natural.
  • Added an option menu in the main menu.
    • Added the ability to manually change the input map
      • Due to it being more complicated than I thought, there is no way to currently add multiple binds.
    • Toggle Window Mode has been moved here and the old button is the menu button
    • Not accessible ingame, still is the Toggle Window Mode ingame.

Bug Fixes:

  • The second boss now correctly takes bonus damage from the Titankill Concoction.
  • Adjusted draw order of melee attack so it appears over the top of terrain.
  • Buttons in game over screens are no longer clickable before being visible.

Known Issues

  • You can click on an input to rebind it, and then click on another button and rebind multiple at the same time. Opting to ignore it for now and focus on other components.
    • A sub-issue of this is attempting to bind LMB while hovering over a button doesn’t work.
  • If you hold down the “resume” button on the pause menu and then click the button to toggle the menu, parts of the pause menu disappear (but the resume button remains visible). Opting to ignore it for now and focus on other components.
